![]() ![]() ![]() Players will be taken from the bayous of Mardi Gras to the shipping docks of the big cities. The game boasts a beautiful amount of variety in the courses and tracks. If used, you get the NASCAR Experience consumer line. So detailed in fact that you can read the still working phone number 1-800-BE-PETTY on the back of Richard’s Petty’s car. The cars are large and beautifully detailed, so much so that you can read the actual sponsorships on them. NASCAR Rumble is a fantastic example of what the PlayStation can handle in the right hands. ![]() ![]() Let’s cover the obvious first – the graphics. It is the least likely candidate to land on a Top 25 games-of-all-time-list, but we’ll get to that later in the review. NASCAR Rumble’s existence is equal parts Mario Kart, Burnout Revenge, and Speedrunning all melted together with the NASCAR license and driver names sprinkled on. NASCAR Rumble is a very good and fun game, with great graphics and gameplay. There comes a time when a game surprises you – not so much in it’s quality, but because of how it reveals everything that has been lost to time and the almighty profit margin. The game has a large number of modes, tracks, racers (real and fictional), cars (even on a tractor ride), there is the possibility of modifying the machine. Now about the physics of the machine - no physics! The machine flies like Hot Wheels / Hot Rod, goes to ram (damages are true), huge speed. But the most important rule now is - no rules! On the highway are scattered various bonuses like tornadoes, hurricane wind, freezer, turbo acceleration, cans of oil and the like. To hell with the oval track, to hell, the stadiums and crowds of fans, now the race takes place on fictional and real routes, through forests, mountains and villages, have hidden places for the possibility of maneuver and cunning. Apparently part of the employees of Electronic Arts overpowered similar thoughts and in their midst the idea of creating such a game ripened, namely, to combine the race, the arcade and the lawlessness on the roads. Many games of the NASCAR series seemed boring, many did not arrange ring races, I wanted something in the spirit of Need For Speed or Twisted Metal. ![]()
